Silhouettes Parent Note
Hello Discovery Chorus Parents
Your children’s first performance at the Paramount Theatre is just three weeks away! We are so excited to perform with the Silhouettes on Sunday, October 19. As a reminder, this is a performance afternoon instead of a rehearsal afternoon. Please read these important details:
Due to a Silhouettes performance in Illinois the night before, our dress rehearsal will be the same day as the performance, on Sunday October 19. The chorus will need to report to the Orchestra Iowa rehearsal room at 11:30 a.m. in their chorus uniform (the white tux shirt and blue bowtie, and any kind of black bottoms including pants, leggings, skirt, black jeans but no shorts) and appropriate footwear. “Dressier shoes” or athletic shoes as long as they are not neon pink, etc. If the girls would like to wear sandals or dress shoes, that is fine but please no super high heels.
If you have not yet ordered your child’s chorus shirt and bow tie, you must do this by Monday October 6 to ensure that they are able to take them home at our Sun Oct 12 rehearsal. If your child was in the chorus last year and you have not re-ordered a shirt, we will assume it’s because their shirt from last year still fits.
The early call time on Oct 19 means “drop them off and return for the concert” for you, as parents will not be permitted in the auditorium during our practice. This will be their one and only chance to rehearse with their accompaniment tracks over the auditorium sound system, and coordinate their music with the dancers. They will also have a “meet and greet” with the cast when the rehearsal ends.
Please make sure their bellies are full before they arrive at 11:30 a.m. as they will not be able to eat again until the performance concludes around 4:30 p.m. (I may try to bring a light snack for them prior to the performance)
Lynne says to expect that the concert will conclude around 4:30 p.m. The choir will go back up to the choir rehearsal room after the concert, and you can pick them up there.
If you have not secured your seats for the performance, please contact the box office as soon as possible (319-366-8203). Remember that you are receiving two free tickets, and additional tickets can be purchased.
Thank you for seeing that your child does not miss the final two rehearsals for this performance on Sunday October 5 and 12. They will be receiving a lyric memorization sheet this Sunday which is HOMEWORK and they need to have everything memorized by Sun Oct 12. Thank you for your help with this!
Please let us know if you have any questions that are not addressed here.
