January Parent Note

🎶🎶 Hello Discovery Chorus Parents! 🎶 🎶

I hope you had some relaxing down time with your families over the holidays. I want to thank you for a smooth Holiday Spectacular concert weekend. I don't know if you saw Dr. Hankewich's comments in the Dec 17 Gazette prior to the concert: "You can't have a Christmas program without a children's chorus, and we have a great children's chorus!"  We really do!---- I received audience feedback from more than one person who stated that their favorite part of Act 1 was the Discovery Chorus. I'm excited to work towards our April concert with your talented children!

As a reminder, we do not meet the first three Sunday's in January. We will resume rehearsals on Sunday, January 25 at 2:30 p.m. 

These rehearsal dates are also in the calendar section of your parent handbook. Thank you for making sure the following Sunday afternoon's from 2:30-4:00 p.m. are reserved for choir practice:

January 25

February 1, 8, 15, 22

March 1, 8, 22, 29 (no rehearsal Mar 15 due to spring break; no rehearsal April 5 due to Easter)

April 12, 19 

Sat April 25: dress rehearsal for spring concert (time and place TBA)

Sun April 26: combined chorus concert with Odyssey and Harmony choruses (TBA)

Thursday April 30: as was discussed at the September parent meeting, this morning concert with Orchestra Iowa at the Paramount Theater occurs on a school morning. Detailed information will come to you after we resume rehearsals.

Thank you for your continued diligence in getting your children to their rehearsals. I am very excited about preparing for our next concert!
